A two-day fashion showcase at the Burj Khalifa next month will highlight local and regional fashion designers and celebrate style trends.

The inaugural Dubai Collections event which takes place on March 24 and 25, aims to strengthen Dubai’s global credentials in the fashion industry while nurturing the next generation of talent in the region. It is being supported by the Dubai Design & Fashion Council.

Designers from across the Middle East and North Africa region will be part of the event. They were chosen by a special committee of influencers and industry professionals. Participating designers’ names have yet to be announced.

“Aligned with our collective goals to transform Dubai into a thriving fashion destination, this programme highlights the immense potential of our regional design talent,” says Nez Gebreel, CEO, Dubai Design & Fashion Council.

The event is being held at The Annex - L11 at the Burj Khalifa, the world’s tallest tower.

Visitors will be able to view collections presented by the designers across six catwalk shows, gain expert insight at two industry talks by international fashion influencers and experts, and shop at a number of innovative pop-up boutiques, housing some of the region’s leading and most creative accessory designers. Dubai Collections will also put the spotlight on two emerging regional designers in stand-alone fashion presentations.

A highlight of the event is a Fashion Gallery that will chart the designers’ fashion journey, providing visitors a greater depth of understanding of the story and history behind each brand.

“Dubai is a luxury retail and fashion capital and one of the region’s trend-setters,” says Ahmad Al Falasi, Executive Director, Group Operations, Emaar Properties.

“Through Dubai Collections we are continuing to celebrate this rich pool of design talent, underlining the creativity and innovation of the region and demonstrating how Dubai really is at the forefront of fostering the next generation of international fashion designers.”

Emaar, which has built and now operates the Burj Khalifa and the neighbouring Dubai Mall, will use the event to cement its credentials as a leader in the Dubai fashion industry. The company has also launched Design 971, an innovative pop-up boutique located in The Village in The Dubai Mall, dedicated to showcasing the work of emerging young local design talent.
