Did you think the pop-up trend had, well, popped? Think again – pop-up shops have been given a makeover in inimitable Dubai style.

In what could quite possibly be the world’s most glamorous pop-up shops, Design 971 at the Dubai Mall will promote emerging talent from around the region all through the year. The store was launched this month to to coincide with the Dubai Shopping Festival, which runs until February 1.

From fashion and art to contemporary furniture, Design 971 will source and showcase collections by the region’s most exciting young talents. These will change on a bimonthly basis, allowing shoppers to discover new brands across a range of mediums.

Designs from six homegrown talents are being promoted in the first set of set at the Dubai Mall for two months only. Here’s who to look for:

Amongst Few
Founded in 2013, Amongst Few is a Dubai-based streetwear brand that channels the traditional Emirati philosophy of simplicity and function, with a strong emphasis on quality. Amongst Few combines inspiration from the UAE and the Western world, remaining authentic to its founders and their respective cultures. 

All Things Mochi
Originally Palestinian, the founder of Mochi, Ayah Tabari, was born in Riyadh, raised in Amman, studied in London before finally settling in Dubai. Fascinated by different cultures and eccentric traditional fabrics, Ayah decided to put her eye for colourful details into a clothing line, and set her sights on the fashion industry. In recent times, some of her work has caught the eye of Kourtney Kardashian. 

House of Fatam
House of Fatam (HOF) is a chic, eclectic, elegant fashion line introduced by three sisters Lamya, Shaima & Fatma Gargash and their business partner Eliza Ilyas, all of whom are based in Dubai. HOF was launched in 2011 as part of a school project for Esmod Fashion School in Dubai by Fatam and was then rebranded to become what it is today. 

Reemami
Reema Al Banna is an award-winning UAE born and based designer, who was the first to set up a contemporary fashion label of its kind in 2009. Reemami has since grown to become recognised and celebrated for its signature architectural and experimental cuts, playful concepts and hand illustrated graphics, which showcase a passion to dress the bold, intelligent and stylish woman. Building her brand from the ground up, today Al Banna continues to offer a fresh perspective and has been prized for her pioneering individuality by fashion critics and loyal customers alike. 

Osaymi 
A fashion house that was born out of a passion for stylish clothing, Osaymi was launched in 2015 by a young fashion talent Ali Al Usaimi. It offers the young generation trendy - yet luxurious - designs that are fashioned directly from the heart. OSAYMI delivers high quality clothing that are specifically tailored to meet the market need for arty designs.

Elena Burba
Founded in 2009, Elena Burba is the commercial ready-to-wear brand with a strong cultural identity and accessible style and a philosophy that’s ‘all about love’. The concept of collection is sparkling game of colours and enchanting factures. It is a unique universe linked to the ideas of its designer; conceptual, high-end and industrial.
