Palestinian superstar Mohammad Assaf is making waves in the international music scene yet again.
In the midst of preparations for his upcoming album, the Dubai-based singer has been nominated for an MTV European Music Award (EMA) in the category of “Best Middle East” artist.
Other nominees in the category are singers Jana, Sa’ad Lamjarrad, Omar Bassad as well as the Egyptian group, Cairokee.
Last year, Moroccan singer Ahmad Soultan won the category.
Supporters are able to vote for their preferred nominees through the MTV EMA website, mtvema.com, up until November 8, a day before the show is set to take place in the Scottish city of Glasgow.
Other nominees include 5 Seconds of Summer up against One Direction in the Best Pop category (Miley Cyrus, Ariana Grande and Katy Perry are also contenders); Best Rock nominees Arctic Monkeys, The Black Keys, Coldplay, Imagine Dragons and Linkin Park; and newcomer Iggy Azalea facing off with Drake, Eminem, Nicki Minaj and Kanye West for Best Hip Hop.
