INGREDIENTS

Filling
1 tbsp oil
500g minced meat
1 onion, finely chopped
3 garlic cloves, finely chopped
1 tsp chilli powder
1 1/2 tsp salt
Pinch of cinnamon powder
3 tbsp chopped coriander
2 egg yolk, beaten
Dough

PROCEDURE

1. For the filling, heat oil in a pan.

2. Add the minced meat, chopped onion and garlic, chilli powder, cinnamon powder and salt.

3. Sauté until the meat is cooked and the onion is soft

4. Once the mince is cooked, take the frying pan off the heat and stir in about 3 tbsp of finely chopped fresh coriander. Let the mixture cool to room temperature.

5. Preheat the oven to 220°C.

6. Take a handful of dough and roll it out into a 22cm diameter disc.

7. Spoon a quarter of the filling on one side of the disc, leaving an edge of about 1.5cm. Fold over the dough and press around the edges with a fork. Line a baking sheet with parchment paper and place the pie on it.

8. Repeat to make the remaining pies.

9. Brush the tops with beaten egg yolk and cut slits in each pie to allow it to vent steam.

10. Bake for 15 to 20 minutes or until deep golden brown.
