It’s that time of the year again, as budding filmmakers compete for a chance to showcase their films at the 11th edition Dubai International Film Festival (DIFF).

The fest, set to take place between December 10 and 17, has invited filmmakers from around the Arab world to submit their movies through their website, dubaifilmfest.com, until September 25. Narrative features, documentaries and short films directed by a filmmaker of Arab nationality or origin are all eligible for entry. A list of rules and regulations is available on their website.

The Muhr competition is now open for feature fiction and non-fiction submissions. Last year, Palestinian filmmaker Hany Abu Assad was the biggest winner of the category, snagging the Muhr Best Feature Film award for his Oscar-nominated film, Omar.

A supplemental Muhr competition, specifically aimed to grow the UAE filmmaking industry, is Muhr Emirati, which, according to a release, has grown by 50 per cent since last year.
