Renowned Telugu writer Yandamuri Veerendranath, who has penned the dialogues and screenplay for Anamika, southern remake of Hindi film Kahaani, says the job wasn’t easy for him.

“We were not doing a frame-to-frame remake. Therefore, I was required to rewrite the screenplay and the dialogues because we weren’t translating word by word and scene by scene. I have worked on so many films, but I never felt it so challenging to write,” Veerendranath said.

He says Anamika has superseded the original.

“We’ve added a social element which was not part of the original. This has made the remake even more exciting and I feel it will be better than Kahaani,” he added.

Directed by Sekhar Kammula, Anamika features Nayantara in the role originally played by Vidya Balan.

Also starring Pasupathy, Vaibhav Reddy and Harshvardhan Rane, the film is slated to release on May 1.
