Dubai-based comedian Wonho Chung will make his Emirati film debut in director Ali F. Mustafa’s next project From A to B. Mustafa is the man behind City of Life, one of the most high-profile films to come out of the UAE.

Chung, the Arabic-speaking Korean entertainer will play a “short but memorable” role in the comedy drama, filming for which began last month in Abu Dhabi.

“I play the boyfriend of one of the main character’s sisters. I can’t tell you much but I can tell you, he’s a little sleazy,” Chung tells tabloid!. “It’s a small role but I think it will be one of those roles people will remember.”

Chung, who also made an appearance in Egyptian film Talateen Febrayer (30th February) in 2012, joins a stellar regional cast including Fahad Al Butairi, known for his YouTube show La Yekthar, Shadi Alfons from Bassem Yousuf’s famous show El Bernameg and Ahd Kamel, lead actress in the Bafta-nominated Saudi feature film Wadjda.

From A to B follows three childhood friends on a road trip from Abu Dhabi to Beirut to honour the death of their best friend five years ago.

The film will also feature guest appearances by well-known actors, including Egyptian heartthrob Khaled Abol Naga.

“Ali has brought together a star-studded cast and it’s great to see something like this come out of the UAE. I can’t wait to see how it will all translate on sceen,” says Chung, who filmed for two days over the weekend in Dubai.

The comedian is off next month to host the Miss Lebanon Australia pageant and a stand-up tour, both in Sydney, before heading to the US for more shows.

From A to B is scheduled to release later in the year.
