Kevin Spacey is offering UAE residents the chance to learn from his Academy-award-winning acting prowess.

The actor’s Kevin Spacey Foundation has joined hands with The Middle East Theatre Academy to offer a two-week training course on acting and performing arts under their Home Grown initiative.

The programme is open to aspiring actors from across the Middle East and North Africa, aged 18-25. The training, led by a professional set of actors, will take place in Sharjah from January 11-25.

Spacey is expected to join them during the course.

“We do this because I believe that if you have been lucky enough to do well in the business you want to do well in, then it is your obligation to send the elevator back down,” said Spacey in a recorded video message from the set of his hit Netflix show House Of Cards, which is filming its third season.

All costs, including flights and transportation, will be taken care of by the sponsors and the culmination of this programme will be a theatrical production by its participants based on a regional theme, performed in front of an audience on January 25.

All audition applications must be submitted on www.middleeasttheatre.org by December 15.

After that, interviews will be conducted via Skype and where possible in person in the UAE. For details, contact awhite@middleeasttheatre.org.
