While his death is a big blow to the fashion world, designer Oscar de la Renta has left behind an amazing legacy that will be remembered for a long time to come, said British shoe designer Nicholas Kirkwood.
The 34-year-old, who is currently in Dubai to launch his latest collection at Level Shoe District at The Dubai Mall, said he’s met the Dominican Republic-born American designer once.
“We met in his studio. Someone had suggested that I talk to him because he was looking at his shoe line. But I was super young at that time and I had just started, so I don’t think I could have done it even if he wanted me to,” Kirkwood, who launched his eponymous label in 2004, told tabloid!
“My studio in London is right above his store. It’s sad that he’s gone but he achieved a lot in his lifetime and he leaves behind such an amazing legacy.”
