Did Kim Kardashian cause the Mariah Carey–Nick Cannon split? If the sources of celebrity gossip site TMZ are to be believed, she had something to do with it.
News broke over the weekend that the pop diva and TV presenter husband have been living in separate houses since May — and that a divorce is now imminent.
What started it all? A certain reality star also known as Mrs Kanye West.
According to TMZ sources, Cannon appeared on a radio show back in March where he was asked to name five celebrities he has “been with”. Cannon named five, but the final name, Kim Kardashian, incensed Carey.
“Mariah tore into Nick for weeks… feeling humiliated and the relationship never recovered,” according to the TMZ source.
Cannon has recently moved into a hotel following a series of fights.
“He hasn’t been staying at their home. He’s been living out of hotels. They’re fighting a lot,” a source told femalefirst.co.uk, who also said that Carey is said to have grown increasingly suspicious of her 33-year-old husband, whom she married in 2008, and even hired security to keep him away from women when he hosted pool parties in Las Vegas earlier this year.
The couple have four-year-old twins Moroccan and Monroe.
“She is heartbroken. This has been going on for months. It has a lot to do with Nick’s career choices. He does not have to work, but he’s been throwing himself into gigs and projects,” said another source quoted by femalefirst.co.uk. “She has tried and tried to get him to stay home more, but he always uses work as an excuse.
“When she points out that, financially, he does not need to be working as much as he does, it p***** him off and pushes him farther away. He hates when people assume he’s living off her money,” added the source.
