Joan Rivers’ “condition remains serious” after being rushed to a hospital on Thursday following complications during an outpatient surgery, her daughter said on Friday.

“My mother would be so touched by the tributes and prayers that we have received from around the world,” Melissa Rivers told E! News in an exclusive statement. “Her condition remains serious but she is receiving the best treatment and care possible.”

The comedy legend and Fashion Police host has been placed in a medically induced coma, according to New York Daily News sources and other reports; she had stopped breathing during minor throat surgery on Thursday morning and was admitted to Mount Sinai Hospital.

The 81-year-old is stable but still in critical condition, E! News said.

Melissa, 46, and her son Cooper travelled immediately from L.A. to be with Rivers. After arrival in New York, Melissa said her mom was “resting comfortably” and surrounded by family.

Rivers’ celebrity fashion-critique show, which is co-hosted by Kelly Osbourne, Giuliana Rancic and George Kotsiopoulos and airs on Friday nights, is on the E! Network.

Kathie Lee Gifford, Joy Behar, Patti Stanger, Donald Trump, Alyssa Milano, Kathy Griffin, Larry King, Andy Cohen, Kelly Ripa, Hoda Kotb and LeAnn Rimes were among the celebrities sending thoughts and prayers to the comedy legend via social media.
