Jared Leto has gone short once again.
After more than a year of sporting a shaggy look with long, lustrous hair and a big beard, Oscar-winning actor-singer Jared Leto has chopped it all off for his upcoming role as the Joker in the DC Comics film Suicide Squad.
Director David Ayer took to Twitter on Monday with a Snapchat screenshot of Leto and said that “something will happen” the next day. Later, he posted a photo of a ponytail and a pair of scissors with the caption, “Should we?”
Finally, the big reveal: a black and white photo of a clean-shaven Leto with short hair, captioned #SuicideSquad.
The actor — and frontman of 30 Seconds to Mars — is notorious for going to extreme measures for roles he plays. He famously gained 30kg for his depiction of Mark Chapman in the 2007 film Chapter 27, and lost over 18 for Dallas Buyer’s Club.
As part of the Middle East Film and Comic Con, Leto will be in the UAE on April 10 to perform a show with his band at the Dubai World Trade Centre.
