Derek Ramsay has just signed a movie contract with Regal Films, making him the latest celebrity to join the film company’s stable of stars.

Ramsay said producers have lined up three projects for him; his first will be with Marian Rivera, in a sexy drama, with noted screenwriter Roy Iglesias writing the script.

Ramsay revealed his next film under Regal will pair him with French-Filipino actress Solenn Heussaff and the third one could possibly be with Kris Aquino.

Ramsay is currently filming The Trophy Wife for another movie outfit, but that, according to the actor, is almost 99 per cent complete.

Full blast

While many celebrities went on holiday last week, Alden Richards was hard at work. He is currently filming a movie, Cain at Abel, in which he will co-star with Aljur Abrenica.

This will be another important project for Richards, who will be venturing into the action/drama genre for the first time. Excited about the project, Richards says he will undergo a new physical training regimen to prepare for the role.

The actor also happily announced that his current TV series, Carmela with Marian Rivera, has been extended until May, owing to its strong ratings and good reviews.

Throat troubles

Actress Yasmien Kurdi is said to be suffering from a lump in her throat which could lead to cancer.

The actress said she will soon undergo an operation to have the cyst removed, which would mean she will have to take a reprieve from work.

She just came back to acting full time, appearing in Rhodora X as one of the leads. She has been getting good reviews and is sad she will be forced to take a break.

She is hopeful that after the operation, she will be able to resume acting, but there is no assurance that removing the lump could restore her voice to normal.

Birthday girl

Jackie Rice had a meaningful advance celebration of her birthday last week when she visited the children at the Philippine Orthopedic Centre.

The actress had asked her friends to prepare gifts for the sick children at the hospital, where she was once a patient for a bone disorder.

Rice, who will turn 24 on April 27, said it was her way of giving back to the doctors who took care of her, and an opportunity for her to lift up the spirits of the kids in the children’s ward.

Recalling how hard it was for her to experience a bone disorder during her younger years, Rice said she knows the pain the children are going through and is glad she is able to perk them up at least for a day.
