The Manganiyar Seduction, a concert filled with classical folk ballads from North Western India, will be staged in the UAE on November 7 at the Dubai Media City Amphitheatre.
The Manganiyars are a caste of Muslim musicians who were patronised earlier by kings and feudal landlords; and have special songs for birth, weddings and celebrations.
According an official release, The Manganiyar Seduction conceived and directed by Roysten Abel, has charmed audiences across the world and its fans include Academy award-winning actor Geoffrey Rush.
The actor, who was captivated by the show that he witnessed in Melbourne even sent out a hand-written note to the director, dubbing the maestro-filled spectacle as “magical”. The show in Dubai will be hosted by comedian Cyrus Broacha.
