But these days it seems Justin Bieber has to strip down to his underwear to get the same response.
The singer was met with booing when he appeared at the Fashion Rocks fundraising concert in New York on Tuesday. The 20-year-old appeared on stage in a black top and dark jeans alongside model Lara Stone, 30, to introduce pop star Rita Ora.
Despite the heckling, Bieber remained calm and decided to tackle the problem by peeling off his clothes until he was left in just his black Calvin Klein boxers. “I don’t feel comfortable unless I’m in my Calvins... Is that better?” he asked Stone, who answered: “Somewhat. Thank you, Justin.”
The change in feeling towards Bieber appears to be backlash after two videos of him making racist comments emerged earlier this year. The star, who is a teenager in the clips, was forced to apologise.
