Legendary Bollywood actor Amitabh Bachchan, who is basking in the glory of being honoured with the Padma Vibhushan award, was all praises for Malayalam actor Mohanlal.

“He’s a remarkable actor. He has the most expressive face, but he makes no effort in his face. Yet he expresses. That’s his greatest quality. He’s unbelievable and I keep telling him that,” said Bachchan in an interview with tabloid!. Bachchan was in Dubai on Thursday to promote his film Shamitabh, releasing in the UAE on February 5. The trailers show him as a liquor-guzzling ageing old man with a rich baritone, while South Indian actor Dhanush plays a young aspiring actor.

“I find similar qualities in Dhanush. Sometimes you can act wild, loud and contort your face. But Dhanush is an actor where he feels his eyes are sufficient,” said Bachchan.

Shamitabh is directed by R Balki and it’s Bachchan’s third union with him after their hits Cheeni Kum and Paa.

Bachchan also expressed his happiness at being bestowed the Padma Vibhushan honour.

“It’s our seventh civilian award in the family. I feel blessed, honoured and want to thank the government of India for this recognition,” said Bachchan. Even after several decades in the industry, Bachchan,72, continues to carry considerable clout in Indian cinema. His date with Dubai was filled with interviews and picking the winner of Main Bhi Shamitabh contest that invited his UAE fans to send audio tapes imitating the actor.
