Abu Dhabi: This year’s Zayed Heritage Festival will be held from December 1 to January 1, 2017 in Al Wathba area in Abu Dhabi.

The festival will display the UAE’s achievements and Shaikh Zayed Bin Sultan Al Nahyan’s historic and renowned role. It aims at raising younger generations’ awareness about the UAE’s heritage.

Named in honour of the UAE’s founding father, the festival celebrates the UAE’s cultural heritage. It will showcase the rich diversity of its traditions and provide an educational platform for enlightenment.

Seventeen nations will display traditional and cultural crafts and cuisines, as well as folklore performances.

The festival aspires to create a stepping stone towards international recognition, the organisers said.

Shaikh Sultan Bin Hamdan Al Nahyan, Adviser to the UAE President, president of the Camel Racing Federation and chairman of the organising committee of Zayed Heritage Festival 2016, said that the leadership’s keenness on nurturing the festival reflects the importance of heritage and culture and the unique bond and relationship between man and land for hundreds of years.
