Dubai: Exceptional teachers, schools and educational zones were awarded at the third edition of the Emirates Award for Educational Excellence by the Minister of Education on Wednesday.

Hussain Ebrahim Al Hammadi, Minister of Education, honoured around 40 winners from 27 different categories at the event which was held in Dubai. “During the third edition of the award we have seen great developments. Out of the 27 categories this year, 13 are new, which have been added to expand the reach of the award to include private schools and adult education centres, to name a few. Today we are celebrating those who are joining the ministry in its journey towards excellence and education and we appreciate them for that.”

The educational zone that won this year was Ras Al Khaimah education zone.

Five schools won in the best public school category and 10 teachers in the best teacher category.

Among the winners in the exceptional teacher category was Moza Mohammad Rashid Saa’dan, who believes she won for integrating smart solutions in her school.

“I was part of an initiative where I transferred all the students’ information to a smart programme that makes it easier for parents to view their children’s grades, absences etc… ”

Five students won in the exceptional student categories and 10-year-old Emirati, Amnah Adel, was one of them.

“I won because of my grades in school and my extra-curricular activities. I am also very active and I have won many drawing and painting competitions. I would advise students who want to excel to be active students.”

Another student winner was Mariam Khalifa, 11, who said she won because of her hard work.

“I call on students who did not win this year not to give up and keep on trying,” she said.
