Abu Dhabi: Two exhibitions celebrating the diversity of creative talent from the Arab world will be on display at the capital’s trendiest art and culture hotspot from this Tuesday.

Warehouse421 in Abu Dhabi will host 100/100 Hundred Best Arabic Posters that celebrate the diversity of regional talent in graphic design from November 15 to February 9, 2017. The space will also exhibit Community and Critique: SEAF 2015/16 Cohort 3 Show, displaying works by 16 emerging artists who reside in the UAE, from November 15 to November 27.

The exhibition 100/100 Hundred Best Arabic Posters will showcase work by 100 artists from the Arab world that represent visual communication in the Middle East. The inspiring rows upon rows of colourful posters, each presenting a different message and idea from across the region, started out as a university project in Cairo and are now on a tour for the world to see.

The various moods of the countries are captured by their artists through the posters such as one that represents an award-winning initiative that is working to end the social acceptability of sexual harassment in Egypt or a poster by another Egyptian artist that shows musicians packed and locked in a jar, while an Emirati artist’s poster portrays the message of ‘love’.

The organisers have also created a space with benches, art material and notes on how to create posters to encourage the public to take part in creating their own art. The posters created will be hung on a dedicated wall at Warehouse421.

The second exhibition, Community and Critique, features 16 artists, who had all recently completed the year-long Salama Bint Hamdan Emerging Artists Fellowship programme, with works ranging from installation and photography to paintings and video installation.

The exhibition sees Emirati artist Fatima Al Yousuf capture the various stages of her sister’s life while receiving cancer treatment through a series of photographs, while Lebanese artist Tala Worrel examines the idea of taking apart elements used to tell a story by detailing them.

Warehouse 421 will also be hosting three installation works as part of Abu Dhabi Art this week.
