Abu Dhabi: Whether you are an art lover or not, an art performance that will put you in the middle of the stage, on a boat and on the capital’s waterfront is guaranteed to provide you with a different perspective of the capital.

Abu Dhabi Art’s Anna Rispoli: Five Attempts to Speak to An Alien takes participants on a mind-twisting tour of Abu Dhabi’s waters, in an attempt to teach visitors to speak with aliens, sort of speak.

The performance examines humans’ relationship with the city’s skyscrapers, the older buildings as well as other surroundings, painting them as aliens, and involves the audience by providing them with an opportunity to take part in five exercises to speak with the aliens.

Upon arrival at the boat, which sets off from Abu Dhabi’s Zayed port, visitors are provided with a bag and a set of headsets. The bag contains a flashlight, a pen and a notebook, which will all be used during the exercises.

As the voice through the headphones directs the participant’s thoughts, attention and at times requests engagement with the narrative of the performance, you will start to see the city in a completely different light.

The just over an hour boat trip, which travels to Abu Dhabi’s Heritage Village and back to Zayed Port, will also see interactions with unexpected performers on the water as well as some of the city’s iconic buildings, ensuring you are kept engaged.

The event is part of Durub Al Tawaya, which is celebrating its fourth edition at Abu Dhabi Art this year, and provides visitors with an art experience beyond the walls of galleries and museums.
