The International Women Photographers Award (IWPA) is inviting amateur and professional women photographers from around the world to submit their entries for the 2018 edition of the award. The theme for this edition is “Visible-Invisible’, but images with an open theme will also be accepted. Participants are requested to submit a consistent set of ten photographs along with a text about the work and their biography on www.iwpa.fr by midnight on December 15 as per French time.

The photography competition is organised by the International Women Photographers Association in collaboration with Antidote Art and Design, Myartspy and Alliance Française Dubai and sponsored by Canon Middle East. A jury comprising well-known international photographers and artists will select eleven finalists, whose work will be displayed at La Gallerie, Alliance Française Dubai in an exhibition opening on March 8, 2018 to commemorate International Women’s Day. The winner will be announced at the opening of the show. All the finalists will receive a Canon camera, and get the opportunity to showcase their work to a wide audience as the exhibition will travel to various cities across Asia, the Middle East and Europe. The winner will be invited to present a solo show at La Gallerie, Alliance Française Dubai next year.

The International Women Photographers Association is a not-for-profit organisation founded in 2001 by award winning French photographer Séverine Blanchet and is based in France. It aims to encourage and support women photographers from diverse cultures and countries by promoting their work and making their voices heard internationally through the award and travelling exhibition.

“Last year we had 800 entries from 84 countries and we hope to reach out to even more women photographers this year. By choosing Dubai to host the award and premiere the exhibition for the second consecutive year, we hope to further promote creativity, encourage fresh talent and create awareness of women photographers in this region,” Blanchet says.
