Alserkal Avenue has announced many new art and design initiatives and activations this month. Highlights include:

A talk by Elias and Yousef Anastas on Modernising the Traditional on November 16 in collaboration with 1971 Design Space.

An internship programme in partnership with the Peggy Guggenheim Collection. UAE based creatives can apply for the three-month internship at the museum in Venice at http://alserkalavenue.ae/en/peggy.php by December 15.

Launch of Alserkal Residency which focuses on research based and socially engaged practices. GCC based artists, writers, curators and researchers are invited to apply for the summer cycle running from June 1 to July 31, 2018 at http://alserkalavenue.ae/en/residence.php by November 30.

Pop-up projects for Dubai Design Week on display until November 18 include Serendipity Arts Festival highlighting the performative traditions of India; exhibition of works by emerging Emirati artists by Zayed University’s College of Arts & Creative Enterprises; an exhibition about the practice of Bahman Kiarostami by Teheran based gallery Dastan’s Basement; and Generative Shelter, an exhibition exploring new strategies to create innovative shelter designs by Heriot-Watt University.

The Literaturhaus at Nadi programme continues with a book reading by Jumana Emil Abboud on November 18.
