Dubai: Shaikh Mohammad Bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Vice-President and Prime Minister of the UAE and Ruler of Dubai, visited the Box Park commercial tourism project located on Al Wasl Road in Jumeirah area in Dubai. The sprawling park is across a 1,200 metre long stretch.

Shaikh Mohammad, accompanied by Shaikh Maktoum Bin Mohammad Bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Deputy Ruler of Dubai, toured the premises which feature architectural design that incorporate non-traditional building materials in its installations, such as containers, raw concrete and steel, which give the compound a modern and sophisticated look.

Shaikh Mohammad was briefed by Abdullah Ahmad Al Habbai, Group Chairman of Meraas Holding, on the design of the project’s shops and yards and told him about the building materials used in the project, which when opened at the end of this month, will be a building of architectural importance.

Shaikh Mohammad wished the new promising project all success, underscoring the importance of such international malls that entice families both within and outside the country by encouraging family tourism. Such initiatives need to be promoted to reflect the UAE’s authentic heritage, he added.

Box Park is designed to be a lifestyle destination where urban chic meets contemporary sophistication. Providing an alternative to sprawling, insular malls, the concept will feature an eclectic mix of restaurants, cafés and high-end fashion outlets, intermingled with open spaces and other amenities.

Box Park follows the example set in other cities such as New York, London, Paris and Christchurch, where similar temporary “pop-up” structures have been erected.
