Dubai: The Bollywood theme park in the making in Dubai’s Jebel Ali area will have superstars Shah Rukh Khan and Aamir Khan taking on starring roles in the design concept and execution process. The “Bollywood Parks” cluster will feature five themed zones spread over 3 million square feet. The other superstars, Salman Khan and Hrithik Roshan too will have their roles enshrined in the theme park.

The actors are being represented through businesses directly owned by them or associated with them.

“The UAE is a cultural potpourri — not only non-resident Indians but Emiratis, Arabs and people from other Asian countries living here are ardent Bollywood fans,” said Shah Rukh, who also owns Red Chillies Entertainment, in a statement. “We are sure the theme park with its spectacular rides and attractions will successfully bring the Bollywood experience to life.”

The themed areas have been branded as Bollywood Film Studios, Mumbai Chowk, Hall Of Heroes, Regal Plaza and Rustic Ravine. Each will be an amalgam of the visuals and sounds associated with enduring Hindi films over the decades.

This phase of Dubai Parks and Resorts is due for completion in 2016.

“The cultural impact and appeal of Bollywood is universal, with a global fan base of over 3 billion people,” said Raed Al Nuaimi, CEO of Dubai Parks and Resorts LLC. “For the first time, a theme park in the region will recreate for residents and tourists the unparalleled glamour and extravagance of Bollywood on one stage. Here guests can live, learn, and immerse themselves in the delightful fantasy that they get to experience on the silver screen.”
