Dubai: A Polynesian-themed family hotel is the latest component of Meraas Holding’s Dubai Parks and Resorts project in Jebel Ali, according to a statement on Monday.

Construction of the property, called Lapita Hotel, started in February. It is scheduled to open in 2016.

The 503-room hotel will be operated by Marriott International.

“Along with our operating partners, Marriott International, we have conceptualised a hotel that is certain to resonate with travellers and residents looking for a weekend or a weeklong getaway. With its unique components for the entire family, we are confident Lapita’s distinctive experience will set a new global benchmark in the hospitality domain. The property will particularly help us target visitors to Dubai Parks and Resorts and eventually contribute to the destination’s tourist footfall,” stated Raed Al Nuaimi, chief executive of Dubai Parks and Resorts.

Alongside the Lapita Hotel, the development will include Bollywood Parks Dubai, Legoland Dubai and Motiongate Dubai. Also, located between the three theme parks, Riverpark will be an entrance plaza with retail, dining and entertainment options.

The development is due to be completed in 2016.
