Abu Dhabi: A new five-star hotel in Abu Dhabi boasting a number of features aimed at limiting its carbon footprint is set for a soft opening on May 15.

The 18-storey ‘Burj Al Sarab’ hotel at Al Mina area has installed 47 solar panels to power its water heating system and adopted many power- and water- saving features, Richard G. Haddad, Vice-President, Operations, Abu Dhabi, said on Monday during a media tour to the new facility.

Six floors of the hotel with 122 rooms including 4 suites will be soft-opened in the first phase. The hotel operated by Jannah Hotels and Resorts will be inaugurated in September, with a total of 318 rooms including 88 suites. The entire hotel is lit by LED bulbs, reducing power consumption and heat otherwise generated by ordinary bulbs, Haddad said.
