ANKARA: The number of foreign visitors arriving in Turkey rose 22.13 per cent in November to 1.65 million, data from Turkey’s Tourism Ministry showed on Friday.

Between January and November, foreign arrivals to Turkey surged 27.68 per cent to 30.7 million people, the data showed.

The number of Russian visitors to Turkey in the same period rose 465 per cent to 4.65 million people, the data indicated.

Tourism, which contributes about $30 billion to gross domestic product each year, was hit by an attempted coup in July last year and a spate of bombings blamed on Daesh and Kurdish militants, which scared away tourists.
