Dubai: Mid-market hospitality brand Rove has opened its second property in Dubai, near Deira City Centre and featuring 270 rooms. The first is located at Downtown Dubai.

Rove Hotels, a joint venture between Emaar Properties and Meraas Holding, has confirmed that the number of branded properties will rise to 10 by 2020, creating 3,700 rooms and “just in time to support Expo 2020 Dubai”.

As of now, seven Rove hotels have been announced.

“With today’s travellers seeking more value from their hotel stays, the mid-scale proposition that we deliver is ideally suited for the new generation,” said Chris Newman, chief operating officer of the Emaar Hospitality Group.

“Offering a home-grown hotel concept in the mid-scale sector will also meet the expected demand from international guests during Expo 2020 Dubai.”

Other master-developers are also scaling up with mid-market hotel projects, suggesting that while the city has more than adequate stock of hotel rooms in the five-star category, four-star capacity is where it is lagging.

Locations such as Dubai South and Deira Islands are offering fresh locations where a mid-market hotel option can fit in well. More developers are likely to sign up to the same strategy.
