Abu Dhabi: His Highness Shaikh Mohammad Bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Abu Dhabi Crown Prince and Deputy Supreme Commander of the UAE Armed Forces, on Thursday visited a number of urban and tourism projects being implemented in Yas Island.

Shaikh Mohammad toured Yas Bay, West Yas and Warner Bros. World Abu Dhabi.

During his visit, the Abu Dhabi Crown Prince stressed that the UAE, under leadership of President His Highness Shaikh Khalifa Bin Zayed Al Nahyan, is moving forward with launching quality projects that create opportunities and new models for tourism and economic growth.

Shaikh Mohammad said that diversifying sources of income is a key requirement, and that developing vital facilities and new projects is essential to ensure a good future for Abu Dhabi.

He emphasised the importance of attracting global tourism industries and encouraging investments in this sector that has become a part of Abu Dhabi Vision 2030 and the emirate’s efforts to put itself on world tourism map.

On the first leg of his tour, Shaikh Mohammad visited the site of Yas Bay, which has been designed as a maritime and leisure destination that includes a media zone and residential area. The project spans an area of 14 million square feet, and is scheduled to be completed in 2019. It will include 50 restaurants and 20 retail shops. Miral will invest Dh4 billion for the development of Yas Bay’s first phase.

Shaikh Mohammad then toured Aldar Properties’ project, West Yas, that will be implemented with investments valued at Dh4.5 billion. The project includes 1,010 villas, two schools, a mosque and sports facilities. The Abu Dhabi Crown Prince inspected the works carried out on the interiors of residences.
