Dubai: Apple is expected to unveil three new iPhones and an Apple Watch with 4G support on September 12 at Steve Jobs Theatre on its new Santa Clara Valley campus, according to online media reports.

Apple for the past two years has been using the Bill Graham Civic Auditorium in San Francisco for their launches.

The US tech company usually keeps the timing and other information about such events secret and reveals closer to the date.

Its upcoming iPhone launch is expected to be the most important event for the company after 2014 where it unveiled the iPhone 6 and first Apple Watch.

The three new iPhones to be launched are iPhone 7S, iPhone 7S Plus and the 10th anniversary edition phone which may be called iPhone 8 or iPhone 10.

The pre-ordering of the device is expected to start on September 15 and availability on September 22 for key markets, including the UAE.

The iPhone 8 is rumoured to be bigger with bezel-less design, front and back glass, wireless charging, OLED display and 3D facial-recognition technology to replace the touch ID.

Expectations are very high for the iPhone 8 and it would be the most closely watched launch events.

Price reduction

Apple’s launch happens a week after Samsung’s Note 8 is launched in the US. The iPhone 8 is expected to be between $1,000 and $1,400. The prices for the iPhone 7S and 7s Plus would remain the same as iPhone 7 and 7 Plus while the iPhone 7 devices would get a price reduction.

According to a latest data from market-research firm 451 Research, 52 per cent of people are planning to buy a smartphone in the next 90 days and it would be an iPhone, the highest level since 2010.

Apple is forecasting revenues to be higher between $49 billion and $52 billion in the fourth quarter compared to $45.4 billion in the third quarter due to the new phones.

The killer feature expected to be in iPhone 8 will be the augmented reality in which digital objects are superimposed onto the real world on screen.

Apple in June announced a system called ARKit and it plans to release it in iOS 11 version which is expected to be the operating system for the new iPhones.
