Dubai: Senior cybersecurity and mobility experts from across the globe will descend into Dubai to discuss about the latest developments in the IT security arena and explain how business strategies need to be evolved to effectively fight against increasing cyberattacks.

These major challenges will be addressed at the fourth Gulf Information Security Expo and Conference (GISEC) and co-located Internet of Things Expo (IoTx) from May 21-23 at Dubai World Trade Centre.

The event was opened by Dhahi Khalfan Tamim, Lieutenant General and Head of General Security for the Emirate of Dubai.

The event is supported by Dubai Smart Government, Dubai Police and National Cyber Security Centre – Saudi Arabia, and expected to bring together more than 6,000 delegates, including government officials, leading corporate executives and entrepreneurs to exchange knowledge and insights from industry experts on how best to protect their businesses from rapidly evolving cyber threats.

Over 70 international experts will share invaluable insights and case studies on cybersecurity and IoT implementation across a variety of industry sectors.

With cybersecurity, ransomware, malware becoming the buzz words last week, the event  has become an even more important event for security vendors – to educate, share and collaborate with partners, distributors and clients on what the cybersecurity architecture should be going forward.

Faisal Al Bannai, Founder and CEO of DarkMatter, said that cyber threats are increasingly complex, and the modern world’s digital evolution continues to expand our threat planes.

“We believe that industry events such as GISEC are critical to helping decision makers identify and understand their vulnerabilities, while demonstrating how they can better protect themselves from advancing cyberattacks,” he said.

Given the rising complexity of cyber security threats, many governments and enterprises are turning to third-party experts to help them raise their level of resilience to attack.

According to global research firm Gartner, by 2019 50 per cent of all security operations work in large and mid-size enterprises will be conducted out of an owned or a shared security operations centre, up from 15 per cent in 2015.

“This global launch aligns with Dubai Police’s commitment to the Dubai Plan 2021 and our pivotal role in achieving the emirate’s smart city strategy,” said Brigadier-General Khalid Nasser Al Razzouqi, director-general of Smart Services at Dubai Police, in a statement.

“This world’s first technology will not only revolutionise the emirate’s police force, it will also provide an engaging, interactive and informative touchpoint between Dubai Police, the general public and visitors from all over the world. It’s the latest example of Dubai championing smart technology on a global level, he said.

The event will also feature a dedicated ‘Start-Up Zone’ featuring more than 50 fledgling companies displaying cutting-edge technologies to an anticipated audience of 10,000 industry professionals, while ‘The Start-up Show’ – a daily series of GISEC Innovation Sessions – will see start-ups take over a dedicated space on the exhibition floor to pitch their concepts and products to potential investors and multinationals.
