Dubai: Al Nisr Publishing has won the silver award as the SAP Customer Centre of Expertise (CCOE) of the year in the innovation category at an event held in Heidelberg, Germany.

Every year, the German software company that makes enterprise software to manage business operations and customer relations, honours the best customer COEs that have excelled in four categories — Best CCOE Overall, Information Management, Innovation and Support Operations — to be recognised as a Best-Run-Business.

The competition is open to both the primary and advanced customer COEs and follows a strict selection process. The judging panel consists of top-managers and experts from user-groups and SAP Active Global Support. The panel is changed annually to ensure that the award is given to customers who have excelled in all criteria.

According to sources, a large number of applications were received this year from customers in four continents.

“The competition provided our team with a great opportunity to benchmark our services with rest of the teams across the globe. This achievement puts Al Nisr in the ‘SAP CCOE Hall of Fame’ and also projects us as one of the most mature and process driven teams. We were able to showcase our excellence in innovation in our SAP environment,” said Ajith Sivadasan, the SAP CCOE Manager at Gulf News Media.

He said that the CCOE team at Gulf News have achieved so much over the last three years and support a very stable operational environment which allows the team to put an additional focus on innovation.

Gulf News Media implemented the Industry Solution for Media from SAP in 2006, and recently rolled out core SAP solutions in 2012 to most of its departments.

“We not only manage operations, by acting across all our business units to resolve challenges and issues, but also suggest and bring forth innovation that helps us re-engineer business processes. As a step ahead, we plan to apply for the advanced COE certification next year and then qualify to participate in the ‘Best CCOE Overall’ category and showcase our maturity next year in all the three categories - Information Management, Innovation and Support Operations,” he said.
