Dubai-headquartered smartphone brand XTouch has launched its flagship device, Unix Pro, priced Dh999.

Bollywood actress Sunny Leone unveiled the model at Sharaf DG stall on Thursday evening. She has been named as the ambassador for the brand for one year.

The 5.5-inch (1980 x 1080 resolution) full-metal body device is powered by MediaTek Helio P20 Octa-Core 2.3GHz chip and coupled with 6GB RAM and 64GB ROM. The SD card supports up to 256GB and sports Type-C port.

The dual-SIM device runs on old Android 6.0 (Marshmallow) operating system. The big advantage is that it sports 4,000mAh powerful battery with rapid charge technology.

The rear house 16MP with f/2.0 aperture, PDAF (phase detection autofocus) function and dual-tone flash while the front sports 8MP camera.

Farhad Khan, vice-president for commercial at XTouch, told Gulf News, that 2016 was a record year for the company. The company did about $12 million worth of sales in the UAE by selling 500,000 units.

Quoting a research firm GfK report, he said that XTouch is ranked fifth in the UAE in the first quarter of this year in terms of sales.

“This year, we are expecting 50 per cent growth in units to 750,000 and $20 million in revenues as the year started on a strong note for us. Our focus will be on entry-level to the mid-level segment. We will be launching one or two models with higher prices as acceptance of our brand has increased,” he said.

“We want to change the brand perception and show consumers that we can also launch quality products,” he said.
