Dubai: The doors for the first ‘Consumer Electronics Fashion (CEF) The Big Shopper’, to be held at Sharjah Expo Centre, will open on Thursday.

Antoine Georges, managing director of Dome Exhibitions, organisers of the three-day event, told Gulf News that the event is focused on the needs of consumers based in Sharjah and the Northern Emirates.

“The concept here is to integrate the buying pattern and trends that will work and benefit the consumer. It is the ease of shopping and catering to the needs of Electronics enthusiast, fashionistas, and sports health addicts. Our objective is to make the shopping experience easy and fun for the family,” he said.

He said that due to the long National Day weekend break, the footfall is expected to be a strong and healthy mix.

“We are expecting about 75,000 visitors and Dh40 million in sales value as consumers in Sharjah and the Northern Emirates have craved for their own shopper destination,” he said.

All the top retailers and partners such as Axiom Telecom, Sharaf DG, Plugins, Jashanmal, Better Life, Splash, Sportsone, Xpressions, Aldo and Tommy Hilfiger will be at the show.

He said that discounts of up to 75 per cent on select category and bundle offers are offered due to the end of the year as distributors would be willing to clear their existing inventory and get ready for the next cycle, which would directly benefit the visitors.

The show, which takes place at Halls 2 and 4, is open from 10am to 11pm. Ticket are priced at Dh5 while entry for children below 12 years is free.

Fahad Al Bannai, CEO of Axiom Telecom, said that the event gives them an opportunity to reconnect with customers in the UAE, allowing them to see and experience the “infinite possibilities of mobile technology.”

Nilesh Khalkho, Chief Executive Officer at Sharaf DG, said that timing of the show is very convenient since it’s the National Day weekend and hence footfall is expected.

Laurent Riche, General Manager of Plugins, said that visitors can expect some great offers in smartphones, tablets, notebooks and home appliances. Sharjah needed this kind of a shopping bonanza to cater to consumers in Sharjah and the Northern Emirates, he said.

“The event is unique as it combines electronics with fashion and sports goods under one roof. This allows a wider audience to be attracted to their favourite brands, products and retail outlets,” he said.
