Abu Dhabi: Landmark Group, a retail and hospitality conglomerate, announced on Wednesday it has signed a deal to open 23 stores in Abu Dhabi’s Reem Mall, which is expected to open in 2018.

As part of the agreement, the two-million-square-feet mall will host some of Landmark’s concepts including Centrepoint, Home Centre, Max, Iconic, Sports One and Shoexpress.

Reem Mall will also house some of Landmark’s franchise brands such as New Look, Reiss, Steve Madden, Kurt Geiger, adidas Kids, Ecco, Koton, and Yours London, among others.

Landmark Group said in a statement it will be a key tenant at Reem Mall and will occupy a total retail area of around 200,000 square feet within the mall.

“Abu Dhabi’s impressive mall development offers great potential for retail growth. Its vibrant shopping, arts and entertainment culture is a great attraction for both residents and tourists, and as the offering grows, it increases opportunity for the retail industry,” said Manu Jeswani, director of Landmark Group.

Reem Mall is set to house a total of 450 stores when it opens including 85 food and beverage outlets, and the world’s largest indoor snow-play park. The $1 billion (Dh3.67 billion) mall is being developed by the National Real Estate Company in partnership with United Projects for Aviation Services Company.

Other brands that have announced plans to open outlets in Reem Mall include Carrefour hypermarket, which is operated by Majid Al Futtaim. In late July, the mall announced it had named Al Futtaim Carillion as the preferred tenderer for construction of the project.
