Duba: Work on the expansion of Sharjah City Centre is now almost complete and it will be home to the largest cinema complex in the emirate, according to its owner-developer, Majid Al Futtaim.

An additional 30 new lifestyle outlets, as well as food and beverage options, will also be featured in the Dh260-million expansion project which is so far 75 per cent into completion.

Once finished, the revamped mall will be home to a 12-screen, high-tech multiplex that will carry the entertainment brand Vox Cinemas, which is going to be the largest in the emirate.

With the new multiplex, moviegoers can have the option to watch films on a super-sized screen or in a luxury in-cinema, gourmet dining concept. There’s also going to be a theatre for the little ones. The developer promised that the theatres will offer "cutting-edge digital technology."

A healthcare facility, complete with nurses and doctors, as well as service providers in the financial services and telecommunications sectors, will be opening as well.

The expansion of the mall is part of Majid Al Futtaim’s wider plan to pour Dh30 billion worth of investments into the UAE by 2026.

The company intends to open 10 malls, 28 cinemas and 40 Carrefour hypermarkets by late 2020.

The new phase of Majid Al Futtaim’s mall in Sharjah will add Etisalat, UAE Exchange, Commercial Bank of Dubai and City Centre Clinic to its growing list of outlets.

The City Centre Clinic is Majid Al Futtaim’s multidisciplinary health centre, which will be staffed with experienced doctors and nurses of various specialisms.
