As part of the efforts to enhance the efficiency and reliability of the water network, Dubai Electricity and Water Authority (Dewa) awarded a consultancy project worth Dh6.3 million to design and construct two water reservoirs.
The projects will come up in Al Nakhli, with a storage capacity of 120 million gallons of desalinated water and the other will be in Al Lusaily, with a storage capacity of 60 million gallons.
Dewa’s total storage capacity will increase to 1,010 million gallons, compared to the current capacity of 830 million gallons with the construction of the new reservoirs, which are expected to be completed within 32 months.
“This project supports Dewa’s efforts to enhance the efficiency and reliability of the water network, increase water flow to fulfil increasing demand for water in all parts of Dubai, and raise the volume of the Emirate’s water reserves and support sustainable development,” said Saeed Mohammad Al Tayer, MD & CEO of Dewa in a statement.
