Dubai: Companies across various industries in the UAE continued to hire new employees this month and many of them are on the lookout for top candidates for sales, engineering and administrative functions.

Analysts have recently seen an uptick in recruitment activity in the UAE, as business conditions and confidence have improved and companies seek to maintain their competitive edge.

In fact, the pace of job creation in September alone was the fastest since April, according to the Emirates NBD Dubai Economy Tracker Index. And among the key drivers of increased headcount are employers in the construction industry, as well as in retail and wholesale trade.

“The rate at which employers hired additional staff was the fastest since April,” said the bank’s research note. “Strong growth was indicated in all three sectors, with the fastest expansion being recorded in the construction sector."

Gulf News’ latest listings at getthat.com showed that most firms are looking to hire sales executives, engineers, receptionists and accountants, among many others. There are also more human resource requirements for information technology, customer service and managerial roles.

As of Tuesday, a total of 774 positions have been offered by organisations in the construction and engineering, manufacturing, real estate, IT, healthcare, food and beverage, retail, hospitality and education sectors.

Most of the positions up for grabs are for jobseekers with a bachelor’s degree, although opportunities still exist for holders of certificates and diploma, as well as those who have only managed to complete high school. A few jobs for Master’s degree holders await the right candidates, as well.

The latest Hays Skills Index also showed that many companies today are seeking to recruit senior sales managers, security specialists (information and cyber), mobile development specialists (Android, IOS), turnaround specialists and personal assistants with C-suite experience.

Chris Greaves, managing director at Hays Gulf region, however, noted that the market conditions in the UAE remain challenging.

“Employers [are] taking a cautious approach to hiring additional headcount,” wrote Greaves. “This, combined with the continued high level of immigration of labour in response to tax-free salaries, as well as cost-cutting activity that took place within many organisations in the previous 12 months, has seen an increase in the number of available candidates in the market.”
