Dubai: Drake and Scull International (DSI), the British contracting company, has appointed a new board member in the UAE following the resignation of member Khalaf Sultan Al Dhahiri, the company announced on Sunday. Mohammad Atatreh was confirmed at the latest meeting of the company’s Board of Directors, with a statement on the Dubai Financial Market website confirming that they had approved Al Dhahiri’s resignation, and approved the appointment of Atatreh.

The new board member has previously been a member of the Board of Directors of multiple UAE companies, including Tabarak Commercial Investment. He is also part of the Board of Trustees of Al Falah University.

According to the statement from DSI, Atatreh played a strategic role in the management of the company’s real estate development and construction portfolio whilst a board member of Tabarak.

Key appointments

The statement added that his approval to the board “continues a series of key … appointments aimed at ensuring business continuity and at achieving the group’s strategic objectives set forth in the business plan at the outset of the current fiscal year.”

It ended by saying that its plans were intended to reinforce stability and prepare the group for a “new phase of recovery and sustainable growth”.

In April 2017 it was announced that Tabarak would become the majority shareholder of DSI, helping them to rebuild after a torrid few years with a Dh500 million ($136 million) injection from the investment firm.
