Dubai: The European company developing a cluster of islands that will feature luxury floating villas and bring snow and rain to The World, just off the coast of Dubai, has signed Dh4.8 billion contracts to kick start construction work.

Kleindienst announced on Wednesday the appointment of three companies to immediately start building the necessary infrastructure, hotels and resorts on the six artificial islands which will comprise the “The Heart of Europe” development.

The centrepiece of the mega project is a heart-shaped island that is inspired from the Maldives and will feature floating “seahorse” villas with rooms submerged underwater, white sandy beaches, lagoons, a large infinity pool and lush gardens. There will be islands called St. Petersburg, Germany and Europe.

Kleindienst said a letter of acceptance, which formalises the awarding of construction projects worth Dh4.8 billion, was signed on November 29 between Dubai-based JK Bauen Building Contracting and two Chinese companies, Wuchang Ship Building Industry Group and Sino Great Wall International Engineering.

Earlier in the month, the same companies had signed the strategic cooperation agreement and memorandum of understanding.

The three firms have been actively working together to accelerate the mobilisation phase of the projects. “The signing of the [deal] will guarantee an immediate start of the resorts, hotels and infrastructure projects on the islands,” Kleindienst said.

“The building firms will join forces to carry out the construction of all the hotels located on the The Heart of Europe’s main hub, main Europe island, villas on Germany island, buildings and resort facilities on St. Petersburg island, as well as the buildings and infrastructure on the other three islands in the project.”
