Dubai: Samsung has showcased the world’s first and largest curved ultra high-definition or 4K TV measuring 105 inches, at the Gitex Shopper, but only the rich can afford it.

It is priced at Dh500,000 and is available on a pre-order basis.

The television has an aspect ratio of 21:9 and has a radius if 4.2 metres. So it iseasy to sit and watch the TV at a distance of around three metres.

The aspect ratio of normal televisions is 16:9 and most Hollywood movies are shot in 21:9 aspect ratio.

The Korean giant also launched the world’s largest flat ultra high-definition television at 110 inch.

“The curved display gives videos a presence not felt on flat screens and boasts 20 per cent more colour reproduction and 50 per cent sharper contrast when compared to other high-definition products, whilst a wider field of view creates a panoramic effect that makes the display seem even bigger than it is and adds 20 per cent,” Vinod Nair, general manager of Samsung Gulf Electronics’ CTV Business, told Gulf News.

He said these televisions will take around six weeks to deliver.

“The 105-inch TV present at the event is not the final version, and it will be future proof, which means that consumers don’t need to change the TV every year, instead [they only need to] change the set-top box like a device known as Evolution Kit,” he said.

The kit allows users to stay up-to-date with the latest hardware and software.

The 110-inch TV is priced at Dh600,000.
