Dubai: Following a blockbuster week in the UAE featuring three key business exhibitions, this week was always going to feel quiet. Thankfully.

That’s not to say that the gears of commerce are not already beginning to turn: This weekend is one of the biggest in the retail calendar, both globally and locally.

Here in the UAE, we have the annual White Friday sale, which runs from November 22 to 25.

Elsewhere, we look at preparations in the US for its own weekend of sales, known as Black Friday, which is expected to draw over half the population out from their post-turkey and pecan pie slumbers and in to the malls, where the time-honoured tradition of fighting for a flat screen television will commence.

Lastly, we discuss the minutes of November’s Fed meeting and what, if any, implication it will have on December’s interest rate hike, and the Autumn budget set to be presented on Wednesday by the conservative government in Britain, who are fighting a struggling economy.
