Dubai: The Federal Tax Authority (FTA) on Tuesday said it had approved the first batch of tax agents.

The agents will help businesses achieve tax compliance, in addition to helping them manage their records and meet standards accurately. This will help minimise errors during the registration or filing of tax returns or during any other step of registration.

Khalid Al Bustani, FTA director-general, said that tax agents are key contributors to the successful implementation of the tax system in the UAE, noting that to fulfil their mandate, agents must possess advanced knowledge and extensive practical experience.

“Tax agents will play an important role in tax compliance, and as strategic partners for businesses, represent them in businesses entities and fulfil their tax obligations toward the authority. Tax agents will provide a lot of services to [the] business sector including tax registration, [the] filing [of] returns, internal tax audits and [the preparation of] needed accounting procedures for tax compliance,” Younis Al Mulla, the first Emirati to become a registered tax agent, said in a statement.
