New Delhi: A joint delegation from the Ministry of Human Resources and Emiratisation, National Qualification Authority (NQA) and the Abu Dhabi Quality and Conformity Council visited India to discuss ways to enhance cooperation in the areas of labour skills development, accreditation of professional qualifications, endorsement of training centres and evaluation of manpower.

The visit is part of the deal agreed upon during the visit of His Highness Shaikh Mohammad bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Crown Prince of Abu Dhabi and Deputy Supreme Commander of the UAE Armed Forces, to India in February this year. It also comes in the context of the Letter of Intent signed by the NQA with the Ministry of Skill Development and Entrepreneurship of India.

The tour culminated with the signing of a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) between the National Qualifications Authority and the Ministry of Skill Development and Entrepreneurship of India. Dr Thani Ahmad Al Muhairi, Director-General of the NQA, and Rohit Nandan, Secretary of the Ministry of Skill Development and Entrepreneurship, signed the MoU.

The deal focuses on the development of a common framework for skills based on basic principles and criteria.

Al Muhairi welcomed the signing of the MoU, which will accomplish international harmonisation of the national system of qualifications with its Indian counterpart, and adopt a strategy and mechanism of joint action to develop a matrix of professions and standards for the skills and knowledge required in the labour market.
