Abu Dhabi: Contracts and plans worth up to $40 million were announced at the Seatrade Offshore Marine and Workboats Middle East conference, which was held at the Abu Dhabi National Exhibition Centre on Monday, organisers said.

Renaissance Services, the Oman-based company, announced that it had sold its subsidiary Topaz Engineering Limited to UAE-based Chalmers Holdings, which plans to expand its engineering procurement and construction activities in the marine and oil and gas sectors.

John Thomas, chief operations officer at Chalmers Engineering, said that the company will spend $8-10 million at one of the regional facilities.

During the conference, Austal, an Australia-based manufacturer of defence and commercial ships company, also announced the delivery of two high-speed crew transfer vessels, for Abu Dhabi National Oil Company (Adnoc) in a $30 million contract.

The Seatrade Offshore Marine and Workboats Middle East 2015 is one of the region’s leading events for the workboat and offshore marine industries. It focuses on the challenges and opportunities facing owners, operators, and regional governments involved in the offshore marine and workboats sector.
