Dubai: The Ras Al Khaimah (RAK) e-Government Authority said it has signed an agreement with the Ministry of Finance (MoF), to implement the e-Dirham system across RAK government entities.

The transition to the e-Dirham system will allow RAK government departments to collect service fees and facilitate the payment of government fees online. According to a statement, the National Bank of Abu Dhabi (NBAD) will be responsible for providing the departments with the hardware, software and equipment required to implement the system.

“The e-Dirham system is characterised by its ability to reduce the time and effort required to deliver services to customers, enhancing operational accuracy and efficiency. The e-Dirham system supports the smart shift in government services,” said Younis Haji Al Khoori, undersecretary in the Ministry of Finance.

According to Ahmad Bin Saeed Al Sayah, the acting Director-General of Ras Al Khaimah e-Government Authority, the agreement falls in line with the UAE’s strategy and RAK’s vision to complete the transition to e-government.

The transition will see government departments providing a growing range of smart services to customers, individuals and companies.

“Implementing the e-payment methods offered by the e-Dirham system will strengthen the accuracy, efficiency and quality of government services, as well as enhance customer satisfaction,” Al Sayah said in a statement.
