Dubai Health Authority (DHA) relaunched today the Rashid Medical Library as the Rashid Medical Smart Library.
The library will include 170,000 medical documents and journals that are available for free to those working in the medical field in Dubai for a period of one month.
DHA also celebrated the book of His Highness Shaikh Mohammad Bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Vice-President and Prime Minister of the UAE, Reflection on Happiness and Positivity in light of the reading activities that were held in line with the government’s National Reading Month, which falls in March.
The reading month activities that are being held under the slogan Reading for Happiness, include an open-book exhibition, an interactive session discussing Shaikh Mohammad’s book, showcasing a painting that summarised the essence of the book as well as explaining the content of the book to those who are hearing-impaired using sign language.
His Excellency Humaid Al Qatami, Chairman of the Board and Director-General of DHA, emphasised that the UAE has undergone remarkable development due to an ideology of knowledge and science.
Commenting on the directives of His Highness Shaikh Khalifa Bin Zayed Al Nahyan, President of the UAE, regarding the National Reading Law and commenting on the national reading policy for the next ten years that was launched by Shaikh Mohammad, Al Qatami said the UAE leadership’s encouragement to read is a driving force to the people of the UAE to adopt the culture of reading in their day-to-day life.
The Reading for Happiness campaign ran until March 28. Khalid Ali Al Jalaf, Chairman of the Reading Sustainability Committee at DHA, explained that the campaign’s activities also fall under the Year of Giving initiatives. He added that it includes activities that target children, such as storytelling and a puppet show as well as activities that promote traditional stories.
