In light of the Year of Zayed, Dubai Health Authority (DHA) held an exhibition titled Sports in the Legacy of Shaikh Zayed, where 100 rare sport-related historic pictures featuring the founding father of the UAE at various sports events were displayed at Al Wasl Club last week. 

His Excellency Humaid Al Qutami, Chairman of the Board and Director General of DHA, said the event comes following the declaration of 2018 as the Year of Zayed by President 

His Highness Shaikh Khalifa Bin Zayed Al Nahyan to commemorate this historic national occasion. The year 2018 marks 100 years since the birth of the late Shaikh Zayed, the founding father of the UAE, who passed away in 2004. 

Al Qutami stressed that the authority has a number of events and activities on its agenda to commemorate his memory, showcase his impact and legacy and promote the values that he displayed through his life in creative and interactive ways. These events reflect his values, which focus on building a strong and productive society capable of elevating the UAE’s world status. 

He added that Shaikh Zayed’s memory will always remain alive among the people of the UAE. He will also be remembered for his humanitarian work and his message of peace, which reached all corners of the world. 

His generosity is experienced not only in the UAE and the Gulf but also throughout the Arab world and internationally, with contributions and initiatives that continue to reflect his statesmanship as a modern leader, who gained the respect of so many people around world.

Al Qutami said the authority has prepared to celebrate the Year of Zayed through an agenda that focuses on culture and heritage, art, health services, humanity, sports and media. Each axis includes a series of distinctive initiatives, reflecting important phases and stations in Shaikh Zayed’s life.
