Ras Al Khaima: Two people died and another was injured in a car accident on Ras Al Khaimah Road on Wednesday morning, police said.

The deceased, who were both Asians, included a man aged 28 and woman aged 22, said Brigadier Dr Mohammad Saeed Al Hamidi, director-general of the General Directorate of Central Operations at Ras Al Khaimah Police.

The injured man, an Asian who is aged 32, was in the same car as the deceased and sustained minor injuries. He was taken to hospital for treatment .

The police operations room had received call on Wednesday at 7:30am reporting the incident. Police teams and paramedics rushed to the scene of the accident.

Police said the 28-year-old driver and the woman died on the spot due to the impact of the accident while the other passenger sustained minor injuries.

The bodies of the deceased were moved to the hospital morgue in preparation to hand them over to their relatives for burial.

Police said the driver of the vehicle lost control of his car, which veered off the road before crashing into a mobile crane .

The accident case has been transferred to the concerned authorities to complete the necessary legal procedures.

Brig Al Hamidi appealed to drivers to take precautions, especially in areas where construction work is going on, as such sites usually have heavy equipment on the premises.

He urged drivers to reduce speed and follow traffic rules in such areas to ensure their safety and reduce traffic accidents.
