Ajman: Two African men were arrested for stealing Dh450,000 from a car parked in the industrial areas in the emirate, said Major Ahmad Saeed Al Nuaimi, acting director of the Criminal Investigation Department at Ajman Police.

The modus operandi of the suspects was to break window glasses of vehicle to unlock the car door and steal the valuables inside.

The incident came to light when the Gulf national owner of a car identified as S.A.S., reported to police that his car’s window glass had been broken and the Dh450,000 in the car stolen.

He told the police this had occurred when he had gone into a shop in the area. When he came back he found the money was missing.

A police team managed to identify the suspect’s vehicle which they had used to escape after committing the crime, and arrested them.

The suspects confessed to the crime and told police they had transferred the stolen money to their home country.

The suspects have been referred to the public prosecution.

Maj. Al Nuaimi appealed to people not to leave valuables in their cars, or to keep their engines running when they leave their vehicles unattended.
